About American Rose Center

Home of the Rose, AMERICA’S NATIONAL FLORAL EMBLEM, as decreed by President Ronald Reagan forty years ago on November 20, 1986!

The Gardens were carved out of our 118 acres of magnificent pine forestland in Shreveport, Louisiana, easily reached at Exit 5 on Interstate 20 between the city of Shreveport and the Texas border.

The Gardens were open to the public in 1975. Today, “America’s Rose Garden” features a variety of roses across numerous gardens, with a multitude of companion plants, trees, shrubs, sculptures and a magnificent reflecting infinity pool.

We were proud to celebrate the Gardens’ 50th Anniversary in 2025, when the property came under the stewardship of a new, locally operated non-profit organization, the American Rose Cent

This place is a hidden gem. The people running the place are super nice and the gardens are simply beautiful.

Beautiful garden! Such a peaceful setting full of nature, art, and relaxation. It is such a nice place to just walk, swing, and enjoy.

Visiting too early for the rose bloom. They have fairly flat ground, with concrete walkways, and some natural paths, very accessible. Lots of antique, heritage roses. Nice visitor center, and low entry costs. Of course this garden is rose centric, so not a lot of other varieties. Probably best seen during the peak rose bloom. Mostly clean and neat, there are some areas of disrepair.

Beautiful well kept grounds, unfortunately not many roses blooming at this time. They are also starting a gift shop and I am sure there will be more items as they are growing the business. Good place for a walk or a picnic.

Although it’s a pretty place. I think we came out of season. No one there to buy a ticket from so we walked around. Looks like there are a lot of newer rose bushes so not too many in bloom. They look like they were setting up for Christmas as a lot of Christmas items laying around. Not sure why they didn’t decorate for Halloween. It was nice, but basically nothing blooming except maybe one or two bushes.
